This pretty girl is our Duchess who is approximately 2-3 years old, black and tan semi coat and not yet spayed.
The previous owner says that Duchess was being taken around by children who were selling her for £20. A friend took Duchess but couldn't keep her, which is how the current owner came by her. It is possible Duchess has been abused by children so we think an adult only home would be better for her.
Once past the initial introduction Duchess is a friendly dog. When our volunteer arrived, Duchess was behind a dog gate and barked but when approached, she retreated into the kitchen. Our volunteer followed her, sat down and Duchess came over for some attention.
Duchess is nervous, underweight and cries when she thinks she is going to be left. It is debateable whether she is good with other dogs and will need careful introduction. She doesn't like cats.
Duchess needs a calm, experienced owner who will help her overcome her nervousness and help build her confidence. Duchess has clearly had some bad experiences in the past. Her basic training is good.
Her current owners working hours have increased dramatically and Duchess is not coping well with this. She is an intelligent girl who needs more mental stimulation and exercise.
