Diesel is in urgent need.
Can anyone help Diesel please? You will be amply rewarded in time. He is a beautiful young male who is described by his owner as a 'people dog'. He is loyal and devoted to his family, even though he leads such a restricted life. Our assessor's only fear with this lad was that she would be 'licked to death'.
And yet, Diesel has not had a good start to his life: and now, it has just got worse! He is homeless from mid July through no fault of his own. There has been a family break up and no one can take Diesel with them due to a combination of housing and health issues. Diesel's owner is heartbroken that it has come to this on top of his unfortunate upbringing.
Sadly, for quite some time during his early life Diesel could not be walked due to his owner's ill health. This meant that he was not socialised regularly with other dogs as a pup. He could not attend training classes as the family do not have transport and then, on top of all of this, he was attacked by two dogs. Nowadays he is consequently wary of other dogs and his owner has not had the confidence to 'grasp the nettle' and begin to socialise him consistently. Diesel has had neither the socialisation nor leadership that any, especially a young, GSD needs. He has lived confined to the kitchen and garden for some months now and is only walked on lead for one walk a day in the evenings. Clearly this is no life for a young ebullient boy. It is a credit to Diesel that he has not become an angry frustrated dog with severe behavioural problems! As it is, he is lively but knows basic commands and can be walked nicely on lead after initial pulling.
Are you an experienced owner? Do you have the confidence to help this lad overcome his fears and put his experiences into perspective? Diesel needs a loving home and one where he can learn that the outside world is not scary and he can broaden his horizons. Are you up to this?
