This poor young dog Dexter who is a 2 year old semi coated, entire male, has had a terrible unsettling time in the last few weeks and urgently needs a new forever home where he can settle, gain his confidence back and have some basic training.
Dexter needs a strong leader otherwise he can get very anxious, he does not like to be left alone and gets very worried if shut in a room on his own. In his first foster home he was living with another dog, he also regularly had contact with other dogs and did not show any aggression. Dexter is not phased by other dogs but rather, is keen to play. However if he is confronted by a dog that is aggressive Dexter is more than prepared to stand his ground. He does this by barking loudly in an attempt to deter his aggressor. Unfortunately, Dexter can open doors and this foster home was totally unsuited for a dog capable of doing that, as their land could not be secured.
Dexter is painfully thin which may be due to stress, hence the urgency of getting him into his new home as quickly as possible.
Dexter is generally a happy boy when he feels safe with people he knows and he will make a fantastic companion for a confident, patient owner.
Dexter unfortunately was returned to kennels where he is not happy. We would like him to either go into foster or a permanent home before the festive break.
