Cosmo - Co Durham

Cosmo - Co Durham
Cosmo is a stunning looking boy who has just celebrated his 1st birthday. He currently lives with two smaller dogs who he is very happy around but externally he hasn't been socialised and would require further training to get him to relax around other dogs. In the home Cosmo reacts nervously to any strangers visiting and although our assessor managed to get near Cosmo when he was on his own as soon as the other two dogs came into the room and charged at the visitor, Cosmo reacted the same, therefore showing he is very much influenced by their dominant behaviour and just joins in. During the day Cosmo goes to work with his owners and is very good around the office staff and quietly sits in his bed. He is walked separately by a male owner as the female owner cannot cope with his pulling and straining, particularly if he sees other dogs. Apparently Cosmo has been on one group walk with other GSDs and after the initial hoo ha was absolutely fine and settled within the group walk (sadly this wasn't kept up). Cosmo has visited the vets when he was a young pup as there appeared to be stiffness in his hip joints, vet advised that Cosmo should be restrained from jumping up, have a decent walking routine to build up muscle and that supplements should be added to his food. He hasn't been back for treatment in the last few months. Cosmo will need an experienced owner and one who is prepared to give him the discipline and confidence to grow into a well mannered boy. Cosmo loves his sausages for breakfast, adores his toys and is quite partial to watching the odd nature programme which fascinates him! Due to Cosmo's bouncy nature we would advise adult only home or at least older children who are used to big dogs.
