Connell - West Yorks

Hi my name is Connell, I am a black semi coat GSD and I am 4 years old.

I am now looking for a new home through no fault of me or my Human, just circumstances. We used to live in a house with a big garden (it was my favourite place) but we had to move into a back to back terrace. I live with my human and a few of his friends, and yes I get on well with them all, but I need more. My human works long hours and has realised he cannot give me what I need now, even though he tries hard to keep me happy.

So today a strange human came around, he knocked on the door that I cannot see through and I shouted really loud. Then the door was opened and I shut up and there was this strange man stood there. He came in and I sniffed him cos he smelled of other dogs. He introduced himself as Chris from GSDR. He sat down and I was asked to go to my bed, I didn’t really want to but I did cos I’m a good boy.

The new human started asking lots of questions about me (I got a bit embarrassed) but I stayed really quiet on my bed. My human went upstairs and Chris gave me some cheese, yummy!!, so I sat next to him so he could tickle me. I’m not proud of what happened next, I am sorry to say I could not control myself and I flopped, legs in the air (not a pretty sight) but I don't care, it was belly rub time - yeah! It was so nice, I love belly rubs, they are so much fun. After asking all the questions about me and my life he asked if we could go for a walk with my human and my human said yes, so off we pottered. I walked nicely to heel and we saw another human and a dog.

Sometimes I bark at other dogs but today I decided not to. We went into the tennis courts at the park and I was let off - yippee! I ran and ran, then Chris took some photographs of me. I hope he got my best side. Then my human put me back on the lead and Chris asked if he could walk me around the court for a minute. Chris took my lead and he moved my collar up a bit and off we went. Wow, he was so fast I did not have time to think about chasing squirrels or anything. He said heel and he was off like the clappers, he turned left, then right, then right, then right, then left, then left - but I kept up with him haha! When he said sit, well my butt hit the floor so fast it surprised both of us. Then he said down, once I did that he said stand and I was there at his side I showed him how good I am when I am focused and he said to my human, boy did good” yea.

He said he was going to try and find a good home for me, someone who will have time to work me, take me to training, give me lots of belly rubs.

Just a little bit more about me. I love working, walking, playing with my ball, and finding my ball when my human hides it. I think I would probably be very good at agility. I don’t like fireworks very much - too loud, I don’t like cats or squirrels when they run cos I need to chase them. I also need to shout when the postman sticks stuff through the door but I shut up as soon as he goes.

I had to say goodbye to Chris I really hope he keeps he promise to help me find a nice new home to live in. I will be sad to leave my human but he wants what's best for me. Is there anyone out there that can help Chris keep his promise to me, please. Love and wags from Connell.
