Max is a gorgeous 2.5 years old castrated, black and tan male.
Max is a lovely looking dog, he is playful, loves 'meeting & greeting' people at home and when out (useless as a guard dog!), obedient to basic commands and has good recall when off lead and stays close. Rarely meets other dogs in the rural area he lives in but friendly and playful when he does.
This is yet another example of elderly people buying a GSD puppy, not being able to cope with the demands of a growing, large breed, demanding youngster, so he has been allowed to rule the roost.
The poor dog is now totally excluded from the house, except for being allowed to sleep in a large weatherproof porch at night, and he is lonely and confused. His owners don't want to interact with him anymore, they claim they are wary of him and want him to put to sleep - for their failings, not his.
Our volunteer had no problems with him and found Max to be a friendly boy, he jumped up and wanted to play. This poor dog is bored out of his mind.
We don't think he should be rehomed where there are young children, so older kids or an active adult only home.
He is a little food aggressive so that needs to be dealt with.
All Max needs is an experienced new owner to set boundaries for him. He may benefit from being rehomed with another well-behaved dog.
Can you give Max the guidance he has missed out on and set him back on the right path. He deserves a good home now where he will be appreciated and receive appropriate stimulation and exercise.
