Well what can we say about this gorgeous boy Chenko aka Chubbs, who has been with us since November 2012, yet is still looking for his forever home. He spent over 6 months in kennels before going into foster, where he is now a little more relaxed and has turned out to be a lovely affectionate boy yet one who has been constantly overlooked. We have no idea why such a beautiful dog cannot find his forever home.
Chenko is a big handsome boy as you can see being very tall and straight backed. He has a very cute white tip on the end of his very long tail. His coat is now in beautiful condition, he has been neutered and has put weight on - well a little too much whilst he was in kennels.
Chenko is believed to be about 2-3 years old and now desperately needs to find his forever home. As you can see, he is very affectionate and loves a good old fuss and a cuddle which is quite unusual for a GSD.
He now walks well on the lead and will happily wear a Dogmatic head collar. He doesn't seem too bothered with other dogs as long as they don't fly at him and he could live with a female companion although we think Chenko would prefer to be the only dog in the house. He hates cats and we don't believe he could learn to tolerate one in a home. He has met horses and isn't too bothered but he is a bit worried by large vehicles like lorries or tractors and tries to lunge at them especially if the road surface is wet and the tyres make a lot of noise. He seems to have a thing about wheels and tyres but is improving and getting more used to them.
Chenko has turned into a lovely handsome, affectionate boy who loves to play ball so we think he deserves to enjoy some good times. Since we don't know much about his background, we think he would be best in an adult home or one with older children. He is a big, tall dog and he is very bouncy when excited so he could knock little ones over. Chenko is very food orientated and would do anything for a treat. He can sometimes be a little possessive over toys and food but as long as you are firm with him, it's not an issue. He has his own passport.
Chenko was rehomed just before xmas and was returned within 5 days through no fault of his own. The reason for return was given as, they had forgotten the responsibilty of owning a large dog. Chenko came back very depressed and it was several days before he returned to his usual cheerful self. This must not happen to Chenko again, he does not deserve that.
Although in foster, it's a half way house with many other dogs which Chenko does not really like so he spends a lot of time alone and is becoming bored and frustrated. He desperatley needs his own home with an active family who will give him the excercise, love and attention and he so deserves
