Cauta is a 2 year old castrated male who originally came from Romania.
When our volunteer arrived to assess Cauta she was greeted by a very friendly, gentle dog who sat next to her throughout. His owners were very surprised by his friendly interest in our volunteer as normally he barks.
Cauta lives with a female but on lead, he is reactive towards other dogs so wears a head collar. Generally, he likes female dogs but no un-neutered males.
He is typical of a Romanian Shepherd in that his recall is unpredictable. He also likes to dig holes and lie in them.
Cauta didn’t have the best start in life and is anxious around children and some men. He has nipped 2 men who walked past him whilst he was sleeping. They were relatives of the dog walker so not people he knew or trusted.
We feel Cauta would do better in an adult only home and away from a suburban environment which makes him anxious. He would thrive in a home with a large garden where he could potter around without the worry of strangers or children to make him anxious.
He has been to various behaviourists and classes to encourage socialisation but this has made him more anxious. He just needs a quiet, calm home where he can relax.
Cauta is fed on Wainright's grain free food otherwise he gets an upset tummy.
Cauta’s leg was broken when he was younger so he takes inexpensive painkillers bought online and CBD oil.
On the whole a lovely boy who will make a fantastic companion for a couple of someone living on their own in the countryside.
Cauta needs a home urgently because his owner is about to have a baby.
Can you give acute the home he needs and deserves?
