Buddy is a short haired boy who is vaccinated and microchipped but still entire.
He is sadly looking for a new home as his owners are living in a flat with a very young baby and they don't trust Buddy with the baby. They feel he needs more training than they can give him. They have worked very hard over the last few months but with the baby starting to walk they feel Buddy would suit a home with no children
The volunteer was asked to meet Buddy out of the home. She walked slowly to his side and fed him treats which he responded very well to . They went to the park and played ball Buddy's favourite game. They then walked back to the flat and Buddy allowed her in with no issues, and once settled he came over for attention. Buddy is just unsure of strangers entering his property woithout introduction.
Buddy saw 2 dogs on the other side of the road and although alert did not react tho them. The owner let Buddy off in the park and he never left their side as he is ball obsessed.
Buddy had an issue with itching which the vets felt was food based as all test came back clear. The volunteer suggested a change of diet to see if that helped
The volunteer feels that Buddy is a workable project. Any adopter needs to understand that he is reactive to strangers coming into his home but also showed that this can be done safely with the correct training. Once Buddy knows the person he is absolutely fine.
In the right home Buddy has oodles of potential. He may always have a few issues but in the right home and with training we believe that great improvements can be made.
Buddy will NOT be rehomed with young children. Older children that have an understanding and respect for large dogs will be considered.
Please don't overlook this lovely boy, he has been looking for his new home for nearly a year. His present owners have worked really hard on his behaviours and have made headway which can be continued in his new home
