This lovely lady is 5 year old Bess. Sadly Bess is looking for a new home as her owners health is failing meaning that Bess has not been getting the regular exercise and mental stimulation that she needs. Although Bess has always lived with a Jack Russell the reduction in her socialisation has meant that her natural nervousness has been exacerbated and she is very wary of other dogs.
On arrival for the assessment our volunteer was treated to a very vocal welcome but Bess did settle no more than 10 minutes later and by the time he was ready to leave our volunteer was able to check Bess’ ears, mouth and tummy with no reaction from Bess. Our volunteer found Bess to eagerly pull on the lead but felt this was directly related to her lack of exercise and indeed a gentle correction had her walking nicely alongside him. During their walk Bess was very relaxed around passers-by and even ignored one who came to say hello to her. Bess’ recall is also believed to be good providing there are no major distractions.
Alongside the Jack Russell Bess has lived with children all her life and is used to a busy household. It has been a heartfelt decision by her owners who genuinely believe that they are no longer physically able to offer Bess the life that she needs. They have agonised over this have now asked us to find Bess a forever home. Could you provide that home for what is a really lovely lady?
