Bertha is a 2 year old caucasian who had her second litter in November 20 (then spayed). She has lived next to a large field where she can be exercised but over her life hasnt really been lead trained, in fact she has no real structure to her life in terms of routine. Our volunteer met a dog who appeared nervous, a litle barking on arrival then constantly licking her lips throughout the assessment. It was obvious Bertha adored her male owner and looked at him for reassurance. Once muzzled our volunteer was able to stroke Bertha and be in close proximity.Bertha lives with other dogs, there is another bitch she recently had a spat with, probably over top dog status. Going forward, Bertha, like most caucasians, will require an experienced home, probably best as the only dog and where no children are present. Bertha is typical of the breed in that she will protect the property, bark to alert of any noise and is definitely a one man dog. Due to Bertha's nervous behaviour on first meeting it would be best for any new potential adopter to meet and make acquaintance over a couple of meets, they would definitely have to have large breed experience and have the home where a caucasian can roam without the presence of close neighbours. If you have a completed home check and knowledge of the caucasian breed then please contact your area co ordinator for more information. Bertha will not be available for adoption unless the right criteria is met for this young lady to settle in her next home.
