This lad was handed in as a stray to the Burnley Dog Warden (his 7 days are up 7.7.15 for owner to claim). After this date we will be wanting to find a suitable home for this very affectionate young dog. We have named him Bernie and obviously unaware of any background to him. However our assessor has taken Bernie home and given him a bath (his coat was very matted and he has a few sores on his back), after the bath he really enjoyed a groom and bucket loads of hair have now been removed. Bernie was taken for a walk on a long lead and really excited to be out and about, he was mainly sniffing the ground but did keep looking back to check assessor still there and after a few attempts of recall he did get the gist and promptly ran back and duly sat for a treat. Bernie is in kennels and the staff there say he is an absolute smasher, no problem around other dogs barking at him, can be handled easily and he is happy to be cuddled by a 10 year old girl. We would like to get Bernie out of kennels and into at least a foster home so he can have some one to one training and settle into a home.
