BEAR - HAMPSHIRE

Young Bear is 13 months old and sadly due to health issues of the owner looking for his forever home.

He is vacinated microchipped and neutered.

When the volunteer met Bear he was pon a lead and halti, politer but inquisitive. Once settled he bought her a tug toy and they had a little game of tug. He took treats offered very nicely.

Bear started his life in a pub and was fabulous with all customers and other dogs. The owners then moved out of the pub and Bear was moved on. A few weeks ago he was returned to the owners and they sadly cannot keep him.

Bear is said to be good around children, but being a boistrous teeneager himself we would recommend older children/young adults who have an understanding of big dogs. When the volunteer took Bear for a walk, he was strong on the lead and was weaving across her, but not excessively. This will need some work. He can be reactive on a lead when gets too close to other dogs but not aggressively more excitement. With more distance he doesn't react at all. Off lead he can be rather boistrous with other dogs so again some work on his socialisation will be needed. His recall is selective.He does know his basic commands.

Bear is quite anxious in the car, he hasn't travelled that much but his owner has started taking him on regular short trips to get him used to it. He sits on the backseat with a harness.

Bear likes water, and doesn't mind having a bath !!

Bear does bark when people come to the house but is happy to greet visitors.

In short Bear is a typical young lively teenager that needs his boundaries set. With  consistency, physical and mental exercise he will become your perfect companion. We feel at present he should be the only dog in the home with older children or adults that have the time that he needs to make him into that perfect young man.
