Atilla is approximately 4 years old and hasn't been with his present owners very long. They saw him posted on Facebook and wanting company for their female GSD thought that it would be a good match. Everything was fine to begin with but their girl has started to get jealous and this is making Atilla quite anxious.
From the little the owners know Atilla didn't have a very good start in life. He was underweight on arrival and still needs to be built up.
He is muzzle trained and wears this when out walking. He has never been off lead but when out with the volunteer he seemed interested in a passing dog, no aggression seen. He is quite strong on the lead. We don't think that he is allowed to meet other dogs at present when out.
He is a counter surfer and will steal food if he can. If he steals something that he deems his you would need to trade and not just take it off him. This could stem from not being fed very often in his first home. With some consistency and training he will learn the rights and wrongs.
In short Atilla is a sweet boy who is just very anxious and unsure of his life at present.It sounds like he has had a bad start in life and is now being bullied by the resident dog who is not nasty just jealous of any attention he is given.
He needs a calm confident handler, who understands the breed and will give him time to settle. He also needs to be the only dog in the home and would prefer young adults who have grown up with large breed dogs. He is an unknown around children. In the right home with time and patience we believe he will make a wonderful companion.
