Andrew Debidin Dog Cruelty Case

Complain about the SSPCA's lack of action

German Shepherd Rescue urge you to complain about the case of Andrew Debidin. Complain to the media, MP's, Scottish parliament, SSPCA.

In our opinion the SSPCA are failing the public who donate millions of pounds to them every year and they are failing defenceless animals across Scotland.

Dear Sir

ref article in the News of the World article Sunday 3rd March. The article is published here:

http://www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk/andrew-debidin-skinning-german-shepherds.html

If there is any truth in the article it is an absolute disgrace that Debidin, is still at large in Scotland and being allowed to continue with his evil practice. This man has been known to the authorities and the SSPCA for many years.

The SSPCA take the usual stance in that every time they have made an appointment to go and see this monster they have found no problems. Not surprisingly given plenty of notice, Mr Debidin would have time to conceal any evidence.

It is my understanding that under the new Welfare act the SSPCA do not need to make an appointment.

SCHEDULES Schedule 1 - Powers of inspectors and constables for Part 2
119. Where there are reasonable grounds for believing that a protected animal is suffering or likely to suffer if its circumstances do not change, a sheriff or justice of the peace may grant a warrant which will allow the inspector or constable to enter and search the premises where the animal is located. This warrant can authorise an inspector or constable to enter and search domestic premises.
We think skinning a GSD for it's fur constitutes 'likely to suffer' - don't you?

Individuals and other organisations are mounting a massive campaign to obtain justice here and would hope that we can count on the support of the Scottish government.

What does SSPCA mean? It says on their website:

'The Scottish SPCA is Scotland's animal welfare charity. Our objectives are to prevent cruelty to animals and promote kindness and humanity in their treatment.'

It also says on their website:

http://www.scottishspca.org/Uploads/AWP%20Booklet-website.pdf

'38.1. The Scottish SPCA is absolutely opposed to the abhorrent and unnecessary
practice of farming and trapping animals for their fur.The farming and trapping of animals for fur causes immense suffering. The Scottish SPCA considers that the fur trade is based on non-essential luxury products and is therefore unnecessary. The Scottish SPCA is particularly concerned by the import of dog and cat fur from China and Eastern Europe to the European Union, and urges the European Commission to ban the import of such fur.'

They don't mind a bit of dog fur from their own back yard though?

Debidin has been in Scotland for many years getting away with this appalling cruelty. He had a previous history of animal abuse and skinned carcasses were found on his property in England - where he was banned from keeping dogs.

The government has spent millions of pounds in implementing the new Welfare Act and bestowing greater powers on the SSPCA. What do they do - they interpret the new act according to their own policies and procedures. There are other cases published on our website that show that the SSPCA are not using this law as it was intended. The SSPCA are failing the public who donate millions of pounds to them every year and they are failing defenceless animals across Scotland.
