Have listened to Tim Wass again. One of his lies – ‘We did try to re-home the dogs.’ Another –‘I don’t pretend that we spoke to every individual.
And, in respect of his claim that captive bolt is a ‘more humane method’ – he says ‘it is a hugely emotive subject’ and talks of the ‘Darkest and most difficult and damning of days when they have to use a captive bolt’ then comes another lie when he talks about the - ‘instantaneous nature of using captive bolt or free bullet.’ How can he make such a claim when the WSPA state this is not true?
As for - ‘We don’t have any evidence of significant withdrawal of donations’ - how much evidence does the man need? Has he not seen the thousands of signatures on the petitions and the comments signifying the level of cancelled donations and legacies as a direct consequence of this single issue?
Carolyn clearly sounded distinctly unimpressed by Mr Wass.
A captive bolt is a weapon used in an abattoir to stun animals prior to pithing and bleeding out. It does not kill, it does not stop the heart. The World Society for the Protection of Animals deems the captive bolt to be an unacceptable method of “euthanasia” stating: As there is a high risk of mis-stunning through inadequate use of the penetrating captive bolt, and hence causing pain and distress, WSPA considers this an unacceptable method for the euthanasia of dogs and cats.
QUESTIONS they refuse to answer!!!!!
How did the dogs react as each dog was taken outside to be “bolted”? Did they make any noise when they were hit with the bolts? Did they have to be bolted more than once – were they “bolted” two or three times? Before they were bolted, were they able to see the dead bodies of their long-time companion animals just before being stunned? Were they piled up in the stunned condition?
How were these dogs finally killed after being stunned by the captive bolt? Were they left to recover consciousness in a pile and, then, die subsequently? When it became clear that this was not the right thing to do, why did the killing go on and on? How long did it take for the hearts to stop? Where were they taken after they had been stunned?
If no method of killing – as opposed to stunning – was used, did any recover consciousness beforehand? Did they recover consciousness when they were being transported? How were the bodies – alive or dead – disposed of? Did every dog have a severe skin condition? How old were these dogs (as it would have been easy for a professional to age them)?
Were any of them pups or youngsters, and therefore particularly healthy, vibrant and easy for a rescue organisation (perhaps even they aRe deSPiCAble) to rehome? On what basis did they aRe deSPiCAble “know” that every single dog was unsuitable for re-homing by our organisation? Why was not one of the German Shepherd rescues – least of all German Shepherd Rescue, which is based locally – approached for help?
